How to measure pet collar size: neck fit versus total length
Measure your pet’s neck, read a product-specific collar size chart and understand total length. A practical Bijuna guide with a Scarlet Pearl example.

Measure where the collar will sit
Use a soft measuring tape around the neck at the intended collar position. Keep your companion relaxed and the tape close to the fur without pulling it tight. Read the fitting instructions for the particular product: the Scarlet Pearl guide pictured here specifies space for one finger. Do not treat that allowance as a universal rule for every accessory.
Without a tape, use a non-stretch string, mark the meeting point, then measure it flat with a ruler. Keep the string supervised and remove it immediately after measuring. Repeat the measurement once and note the result in centimetres. Breed, body weight and a product photo cannot replace the neck measurement.

Compare neck fit, not the end-to-end length
A collar’s total length includes sections that do not form the fitted neck loop, such as the buckle end and adjustment tail. Use the “neck range” column to choose a size. The S Scarlet Pearl is 33 cm long but lists a neck-fit range of 18–25 cm; it is not intended for a 33 cm neck.
The example below reproduces Scarlet Pearl’s published size chart. Other Bijuna designs may use different ranges, closures or size labels. Open the exact product page and check the selected collar option before ordering.
| Size | Neck-fit range | Total collar length |
|---|---|---|
| S | 18–25 cm | 33 cm |
| M | 28–35 cm | 43 cm |
| L | 38–45 cm | 53 cm |
| XL | 48–55 cm | 63 cm |
Example for Scarlet Pearl only. Sizes are not interchangeable across designs. Measurements in the gaps require confirmation before ordering.
If the measurement falls between ranges, ask first
A 30 cm neck falls within Scarlet Pearl’s listed M range of 28–35 cm. A 26 cm measurement falls between its S and M ranges. Do not round 26 cm into either range or assume that choosing the larger letter solves the fit; contact Bijuna with the measurement and product name to confirm an appropriate option.
Similarly, do not reuse the size letter from an old collar or another brand. Compare the measured circumference with the current chart, then confirm any uncertainty about width, closure or adjustment before purchasing.
Check again after fastening
Before adding ornaments, check that the closure is secure and that the band does not pinch, rub or restrict normal movement. Follow the product’s fitting guidance rather than tightening it to compensate for an unsuitable size. Remove a piece that causes discomfort or could catch on the surroundings.
Decorative bead strands and magnetic ornaments are not leash attachment points. Select walking equipment for its stated intended use and designated hardware. A correctly chosen decorative collar size does not, by itself, establish that it can bear leash loads or has a breakaway mechanism.

A short checklist before you order
Have the neck measurement in centimetres, the exact design name and the selected option ready. Check the neck-fit range, total length, width where listed, and what is included. Collar, leash and owner bracelet options may be separate; a styled photograph is not an inventory list.
For your first fitting, keep the session brief and supervised. Recheck fit when your companion’s measurements change. Once the fit is confirmed, explore compatible magnetic ornaments or our matching collar-and-bracelet styling guide.
Collar sizing questions
Is collar length the same as neck circumference?
No. Total length includes the buckle and adjustment sections. Choose by the product’s stated neck-fit range.
Can I choose a size from my pet’s breed or weight?
Use an actual neck measurement and the specific product chart. Breed and weight can be context, but do not establish fit.
What if my measurement is not in a listed range?
Contact Bijuna with the measurement, product name and intended option. Do not force a size or round into a range.
